When I originally began working on Tourist Trap, I had intended to call it Invasive Species because of the character, Carl Tackett’s a/k/a Carlos Tequesta’s, delusions. As the story developed, however, I felt Tourist Trap was more descriptive of the plot.
Unfortunately, along with the climate crisis threatening the earth and pollution killing our oceans through our carelessness, by transplanting non-native species to new areas we have wreaked havoc on ecosystems, thereby devastating native species of plants and wildlife all over the world.
Because Tourist Trap takes place in Florida, attached is an article from the Nature Conservancy about their work to combat invasive species in Florida. Although I have not pledged to Nature Conservancy through profits from Tourist Trap, it is a worthwhile organization to support. The charity to which I have chosen to donate from any profits from Tourist Trap is N.A.M.I. (National Alliance on Mental Illness)
