TIME TO WRITE YOUR SENATORS AGAIN!

Dear Senators Scott and Rubio:

On February 5, 2020, you failed to honor your oath of office, to uphold the Constitution, and to honestly and faithfully perform your duty as a Senator when you voted “Not Guilty” in Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial.  In so doing, you enabled then-President Trump to commit countless acts against our democracy in his attempt to retain power and avoid prosecution for a plethora of crimes.  You and the rest of your Republican colleagues, who also voted to acquit ex-President Trump, gave him carte blanche for a full year to do whatever he wanted.  He took full advantage of his acquittal to spread lies and create an alternative reality for his single-minded followers.  His destructive year culminated in the deadly insurrection we all watched on television.  It was galling and frightening to watch Trump amp up his already angry mob with more lies, prompting them to take over the Capitol on his behalf as he skulked away to a party to enjoy watching his ardent supporters do his bidding.

Because Trump’s actions were so egregious, he earned himself another impeachment trial and, thus, you have been granted the opportunity to redeem yourself from having enabled him to become the worst president we have ever had.  We almost lost our democracy because you allowed him to escape accountability on February 5, 2020.

This is the oath you took when you were sworn into office:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

You must support and defend the Constitution by preventing Trump from ever running for a public office again.  He is a domestic enemy to the Constitution, to our democratic form of government.  You must find him guilty of Incitement of Insurrection as set forth in the Article of Impeachment transmitted to the Senate by the House Impeachment Managers on January 25, 2021.
