Let’s Not Forget

I’m not posting many political comments lately because things are so awful, complicated, depressing, and scary because of the COVID-19 virus.  I’m thankful that there are many individuals–health care professionals, grocery store workers, delivery people, utility workers, sanitation workers, and others–stepping up to the plate taking leadership roles.  Also, I’m thankful for those we’ve elected to local, county, city, and state government positions along with those congressional representatives, who have accepted responsibility to do what they can to get us all, our country, really our world through this pandemic.  Unfortunately, I cannot be more disgusted by our President shamelessly saying he accepts no responsibility for dismantling the pandemic office, which obviously might have given us a head start in fighting this situation and may have saved many lives.  I cannot be more enraged when he was telling the country that COVID-19 was a Democratic hoax designed to make him look bad.  And, I cannot have more disdain for him when he contends the federal government is only a backup in this national crisis, that the federal government is not a supply clerk to get PPE and medical equipment to communities hard hit by the virus, leaving it up to the states.  I realize there will be plenty of time to rehash what happened and didn’t happen in response to the pandemic, but, although our Dear Leader wants us to forget, let’s not forget so there’s at least a chance of holding him accountable for his actions and/or inactions.  Also, we must not forget so we don’t make the mistake of electing a sociopath as president again.
