With all of the upsetting news inundating us, I came upon information regarding a piece of legislation which I thought was a huge step in the right direction toward ending cruelty to animals. Since Congress is not in session, I thought this could not be a current story and I checked it out before posting it on Facebook. If true, I wanted to post the story because it would be something encouraging to make most people happy.
While I discovered this piece of legislation is definitely a positive move prohibiting something horrendous, I, unfortunately am aghast reading what this piece of legislation outlaws! I am sick at heart reading the text of this Act, and more disturbed and frightened than ever at the lengths some human beings will go to in order to inflict pain, torture, and death to other living creatures. I am sorry I researched this and I will not publicize the piece of legislation here because I do not want to ruin your day or place the awful images I am experiencing in your head. I don’t know how I can erase what I have learned from my mind, but I wish I could.
All I can say is, let’s all try to be kind and loving to one another, to the other creatures we share the earth with, and to the earth itself. Weren’t we designated as the guardians of the flora and fauna of the earth?
